Software for arts therapists

Journify gives art, music and drama therapists a diary, session notes shaped to each discipline, a log for artwork and recordings, and billing for schools, local authorities and families. Restricted process notes and reports that share themes rather than session content come as standard.

Art therapist, art psychotherapist, dramatherapist and music therapist are protected titles, so you must be on the HCPC register to use them. BAAT, BAMT and BADth are the professional bodies.

The arts therapies pack follows within six months of launch, and until then you can sign up with the nearest launch pack plus the General pack and move across when it ships.

What it does for art, music and drama therapists

Artwork and recordings in the record

BAAT's code asks for artwork to be named, dated and stored safely, and accepts photographs as the record when space runs out. Journify's artwork log holds the photo, the date, the title the client gave it and what happened to it at the end: kept by you, returned, or destroyed as agreed in the contract. Photos are taken inside Journify, so they never land in your phone's camera roll.

  • Music therapy recordings kept with the record too
  • Consent to photograph or record held in the consent register
  • Images follow the same retention rules as the notes

School days in one booking

A school site day books as one block with each pupil's appointment inside it, so a day at one primary isn't a pile of separate bookings. Schools can pay on a purchase order, through a time bank or with a termly invoice, and a session counter tracks each child's block.

  • Termly blocks and school POs
  • Time-bank balance per school
  • Local authority and charity funded blocks

Tell school enough, and no more

Schools and social workers need to know how a child is getting on, not what happened in the room. Termly reviews and end-of-intervention reports share outcomes and themes only, and process notes stay restricted to you and your supervisor. For looked-after children the record holds the social worker and anyone with delegated authority, because consent may come from the local authority or a carer rather than a parent.

  • Adoption support progress report template
  • Social worker update letters
  • Parent and teacher questionnaires

Measures and assessments

  • GBO: built in
  • YP-CORE and CORE-10: built in once CORE System Trust gives permission
  • SDQ and the Boxall Profile: score entry only, using your own licence
  • MiDAS, IMTAP and QoL-AD for music and dementia work: still being checked, so not promised for launch

Who pays, and how it's billed

Schools pay termly, on purchase orders or through time banks, local authorities fund blocks (including adoption support work), and parents and charities pay too. Treatment by an HCPC registered arts therapist is VAT exempt.

Questions from art, music and drama therapists

Is the arts therapies pack ready at launch?

Not quite. It follows within six months of public launch. You can sign up from launch with the nearest pack plus the General pack, and when the arts pack ships we'll move you across without touching anything you've changed.

Can I keep music therapy recordings in Journify?

Yes. Recordings and artwork photos are part of the client record. They need consent to record on file, and they follow the same retention rules as the notes.

Do you help with Adoption and Special Guardianship Support Fund work?

There's a progress report template for it, and the record handles social workers and delegated authority. The application itself is made by the local authority or regional adoption agency, not by you or by Journify.

Which outcome measures can I use?

GBO is built in. YP-CORE and CORE-10 arrive once CORE System Trust gives permission, and SDQ and the Boxall Profile are score entry with your own licence. We're still checking music and dementia scales such as MiDAS and IMTAP.
