Software for hearing clinics

Journify handles the diary, notes, invoices, reminders, client portal and online booking for independent hearing clinics. It doesn't draw audiograms or track hearing aids by serial number yet, and we'd rather you knew that before you sign up.

Hearing aid dispenser is a protected title and a protected function regulated by the HCPC. The main professional bodies are BSHAA, the British Academy of Audiology, the British Society of Audiology and AIHHP.

The specialist audiology pack (audiogram, serial-tracked devices and fitting records) comes later, once enough clinics ask for it, and until then you can use the General pack for your diary, notes, invoices, reminders, client portal and online booking.

What it does for audiologists and hearing aid dispensers

Busy wax removal clinics

RNID says many GP surgeries that used to remove ear wax have stopped, and people are being told to go private. That means days of 30 minute slots. Clients book online, get a reminder by email and text, and complete their consent form before they walk in.

  • 30 minute slots bookable online
  • Consent form completed beforehand
  • One wax note template, reused every time

Less time left for paperwork

Audiologists answering BIHIMA's 2024 survey said shorter appointments are squeezing the time they have for patient admin. Journify's AI scribe drafts the note for you to check, referral letters to the GP or ENT start from a template with an urgency flag, and the invoice comes straight from the appointment.

  • AI scribe drafts notes for your review
  • Referral letters with an urgency flag
  • Invoices raised from the appointment

What's missing for hearing aids

Fitting and selling hearing aids needs tools we haven't built yet: an audiogram with the standard symbols, serial numbers for each device, warranty and trial period dates, and repair tracking. They'll come in the audiology pack once enough clinics ask for it. Until then, you'd keep device records somewhere else.

  • No audiogram or tympanometry chart yet
  • No serial-tracked device stock yet
  • No NOAH import from audiometers yet

Who pays, and how it's billed

Most clients are adults paying for themselves, plus employers buying occupational hearing screening. Hearing tests are VAT exempt, but HMRC excludes hearing aids from zero-rating, so a bundled hearing aid package has to be split between exempt service and taxable goods, and we'd want your accountant's view on how.

Questions from audiologists and hearing aid dispensers

Can I sell hearing aids through Journify?

Not properly yet. You can book and invoice tests, wax removal and aftercare. Device stock with serial numbers, warranty dates, trial returns and VAT split across a bundle all come with the audiology pack. If hearing aids are most of your income, it's probably worth waiting for it.

Can I record the referral checks I do at a hearing assessment?

Yes, by building your own history form with the checks you already use. The audiology pack will add a ready-made referral criteria screen that has to be acknowledged before a note is finalised, but that isn't built yet.

Will I have to start again when the audiology pack arrives?

No. The pack installs into your existing practice from Settings and adds its templates and modules. It doesn't touch the clients, notes or templates you've already got.

What does it cost?

Prices are still being finalised, so they're TBC for now. Solo is for one practitioner, and in a shared clinic Practice and Clinic are priced per practitioner. Receptionists and other admin staff are free. Early access opens in 2027.
