Software for CBT therapists

Journify gives CBT therapists a diary, structured session notes, measures sent before every session and homework the client fills in through the portal. Insurer and EAP session caps are counted for you, and VAT follows each practitioner's registration.

BABCP and AREBT run the CBT Register UK, which the Professional Standards Authority accredits. Many CBT therapists also hold a core profession, such as nursing or psychology, with its own statutory register.

The CBT pack follows within six months of launch, and until then you can sign up with the psychology pack plus the General pack and move across when it ships.

What it does for CBT therapists

Homework that comes back filled in

So much of CBT happens between sessions. Clients complete worksheets in the portal and their answers land in the record, ready for the homework review on your agenda. Every worksheet is written and designed by us, not copied from a manual or an NHS Trust leaflet.

  • 7-column thought record and ABC diary
  • Exposure hierarchy with SUDS ratings from 0 to 100
  • Activity schedule, behavioural experiment record, worry tree and sleep diary

Scores at every session, charted

NHS Talking Therapies takes measures at every session, so there's always a recent score to go on. Journify does the same for private work: PHQ-9 and GAD-7 go out through the portal before each appointment and are charted with the caseness lines NHS Talking Therapies uses, 10 or more on PHQ-9 and 8 or more on GAD-7.

  • Scores sit at the top of the session note
  • WSAS, PCL-5 and the phobia scales built in
  • Session note laid out as agenda, homework review, session work and feedback

Insurer caps without the guesswork

Insurers and EAPs fund a set number of sessions, and a course usually runs 6 to 20. Journify keeps the authorisation, counts sessions against it and warns you two sessions before the limit so the ending doesn't sneak up on either of you. Insurer reports pull in measures at the start and now.

  • Mid-treatment review and relapse prevention blueprint
  • Discharge letter that carries the relapse plan
  • Healthcode e-billing planned for a later phase

Switched on when you choose cbt

Pick your profession when you join and these are ready from your first sign in. Everything can be edited.

  • CBT assessment covering the five areas, triggers, safety behaviours and planned number of sessions
  • Session note in the standard CBT session structure
  • Formulation builder with five areas, panic cycle, PTSD, OCD and longitudinal layouts
  • Worksheets and handouts through the client portal
  • Sessional measures sent before every session, plus SMART, GAS and GBO goals
  • Risk formulation, safety plan and restricted process notes
  • Insurer and EAP billing with session counts and an ending planner
  • Privacy calendar mode (initials only) and a supervision log with hours counter

Measures and assessments

  • PHQ-9, GAD-7, WSAS, PCL-5 and the NHS Talking Therapies phobia scales: built in, with questions and scoring
  • CORE-10: built in once CORE System Trust gives permission
  • OCI-R, Y-BOCS, PDSS, SPIN, Health Anxiety Inventory, PSWQ and IES-R: licence terms still being checked, so not promised for launch

Who pays, and how it's billed

Clients pay for themselves, through private medical insurance or an EAP, or via solicitors and insurers for treatment after an accident, with session caps on insurer and EAP work. CBT is standard-rated if you're VAT-registered, unless you're a statutory registrant delivering it within your profession, so Journify sets VAT per practitioner.

Questions from CBT therapists

When will the CBT pack be ready?

Within six months of public launch. You can sign up from launch with the psychology pack, which already has formulation, sessional measures, worksheets in the portal and insurer billing. When the CBT pack ships we'll move you onto it, and anything you've changed stays as you left it.

I'm also a registered mental health nurse. What about VAT?

VAT follows the practitioner and the service, not the practice. CBT delivered within your statutory profession can be exempt; if not, it's standard-rated when you're VAT-registered. It's worth checking your case with your accountant, and the service carries a note saying so.

Can I use the OCI-R, Y-BOCS or PDSS?

We're still checking the licence terms for disorder-specific measures, so we're not promising them for launch. If you hold the rights, you can build your own version in the form builder in the meantime.

Are the worksheets copied from published manuals?

No. Every worksheet and formulation layout in the pack is written and designed by us, because manuals and NHS Trust leaflets are copyrighted. You can edit ours or build your own.
