Osteopathy records, done properly

Journify gives osteopaths new patient and follow-up notes with a spine segmental grid, a consent form built around what the GOsC asks you to record, and billing for self-pay, insured and cash-plan patients.

Regulated by the GOsC. Professional body: the Institute of Osteopathy (iO).

The osteopathy pack follows within six months of launch, and until then you can start on the physiotherapy pack plus the General pack and we'll move you across when it ships.

What it does for osteopaths

Consent the GOsC asks you to record

The Osteopathic Practice Standards say you must record the key parts of the consent discussion, keep written consent for any vaginal or rectal examination or technique, and note whether a chaperone was there or declined. Our risk consent form has a field for each. None of them are optional.

  • Chaperone recorded as present, offered and declined, or not applicable
  • Tick an intimate technique and the note can't be finalised until the patient has signed
  • Information given, the patient's questions and their decision, all on the record

Findings by segment, not from memory

The exam template has a spine diagram with a grid from C0 to coccyx. At each level you record tenderness, restriction, TART findings and the technique you used, HVLA included with its level. Next visit, it's all there.

  • A blood pressure field, as it's commonly taken before cervical thrust
  • Red-flag prompts for cervical arterial dysfunction, and for abdominal aortic aneurysm with lumbar pain in older men
  • Dermatome overlay and neuro exam built in

Each visit starts with the last one

The follow-up note opens with the patient's response to the last treatment, adverse reactions included. So it's the first thing you ask, not the thing you forget when the diary's running late. Adverse events have their own record too.

  • Infant and child assessment covering feeding, sleep and cranial vault asymmetry
  • A pregnancy assessment template and pregnancy back care leaflet
  • A dry needling log, if you offer it

  • Exercise programmes from the shared library, plus ergonomic advice leaflets
  • GP letter, imaging referral, insurer report and medico-legal report templates
  • Insurer billing with authorisations, and cash-plan receipts with your GOsC number on

Measures and assessments

  • Built in: NPRS, PSFS and PGIC
  • MYMOP and the Bournemouth Questionnaire, switched on once we hold permission from the rights holders
  • Score tables for ODI, NDI and STarT Back: you use your own licence, enter the scores and see them over time, and we never store the questions

Who pays, and how it's billed

Mostly self-pay, charged per session, plus private medical insurance (which often needs a GP or open referral and pre-authorisation) and cash plans where the patient pays and reclaims. Treatment by a GOsC-registered osteopath is VAT exempt, while medico-legal reports are standard-rated.

Questions from osteopaths

Can I join at launch if the osteopathy pack isn't ready?

Yes. You'd start on the physiotherapy pack, which already has body charts, red-flag screens and insurer billing, and you can switch on the spine diagram in one click. When the osteopathy pack ships, within six months of launch, we move you across, and anything you've edited stays as you left it.

I treat babies. Does that work?

Yes. Child clients are optional in the osteopathy pack, so they don't take over your booking screens, but you can add a baby with a parent as the main contact whenever you need to. The infant assessment covers feeding, sleep and cranial vault asymmetry.

Can I bill insurers through Healthcode?

Not at launch. Healthcode e-billing is in our second phase, aimed at August 2028. Until then you get insurer-ready invoices built from each patient's authorisation, which you send by email or through the insurer's portal.

What does it cost?

Prices are still being finalised, so they're TBC for now. Solo is for one practitioner, and Practice and Clinic are priced per practitioner, with cheaper seats for part-timers. Admin staff are free. Early access opens in 2027.
